The City of Lawton is located just 7 miles east of Sioux City, Iowa. A perfect place to call home or visit for the day, our small city is located in the heart of the Midwest and boasts great schools, a restaurant, an antique shop, upholstery shop, boutique, pumpkin patch and more!
-Permitted June 25 to July 8, weekdays 9am to 10pm and 9am to 11pm on July 3 and 4.
-Must be used on private property and are not allowed on public streets, sidewalks, or parks.
-You are responsible for the proper disposal of firework pieces and trash.
-Violations of these rules are considered a Municipal Infraction and will incur a $100 civil penalty for the first offense and $200 for each subsequent offense within a 6 month period.
Recycle Dates: July 13 and 27
Garbage Service on Mondays - have to curb by 7am, space cans 3 foot apart and away from vehicles, have wheels on cart towards your house, anything left outside the cart will not be picked up.

July 10- Tractor Ride in town (see Woodbury County Farm Bureau for details)

**Reminder effective February 2021, city council meetings will be held the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings will continue to be in the Friendship Center at 5:30pm.**

Lawton Bronson Jr. Sr. High School is located on the east side of Lawton.
Located next to the school, is a fitness center open to students and available to community members with a low annual membership fee.
City Hall is open Monday through Friday to serve community members' needs.
Tara Way Park is a favorite for kids of all ages. The Park includes a large open area and a picnic shelter. Tara Way Park was established around 1994 on property donated to the city by Arlen and Clarice Zenor. This park is located east of Tara Way at the east end of Birch Street. A shelter house is available to rent with kitchen accessories. Contact the City Clerk's office for rental information.
The Community Presbyterian Church offers many services for members and the community.
Bethel Lutheran Church offers many services for members and the community.
Lawton's football field, track and baseball fields are home to many events year-round.
The picnic shelter, located in Tara Way park, can be reserved for gatherings. The shelter includes a kitchen and bathrooms.
Veterans' Memorial Park is located southeast of the intersection of Cedar and Maple Streets. The FAMILY group (Fathers And Mothers Interested in Lawton's Youth) has erected a gazebo in the park housing a veteran's memorial stone. This memorial was donated by the Lawton Civic Development Corporation.
