The City  of Lawton is located just 7 miles east of Sioux City, Iowa.  A perfect place to call home or visit for the day, our small city is located in the heart of the Midwest and boasts great schools, a restaurant, an antique shop, upholstery shop, boutique, pumpkin patch and more!

Recycle Dates:  December 14 and 28

Garbage Service on Mondays - have to curb by 7am, space cans 3 foot apart and away from vehicles, have wheels on cart towards your house, anything left outside the cart will not be picked up.

Yard Waste Disposal allowed at city tree pile site on Ash St (this will stay available until further notice unless we have issues with non-yard waste dumping) Dumpster is available for leaves, plant material, grass clippings, etc. No bags please. Thank you!

December 12- Christmas Lighting Contest Judging 7pm

December 19- Live Nativity Scene and Caroling at Lawton Senior Living 1:30-2:30

December 20- City Bills Due

December 24- Christmas Eve- city offices will be closed

December 25- MERRY CHRISTMAS!

December 31- New Year's Eve- city offices will be closed

January 1- HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As the year comes to an end I am reminded and so thankful for the wonderful community we have in Lawton. From the friendships I have made and the generosity I have seen, I am truly amazed and blessed to be a part of it. Tara Way Park
Tara Way Park

Tara Way Park is a favorite for kids of all ages. The Park includes a large open area and a picnic shelter. Tara Way Park was established around 1994 on property donated to the city by Arlen and Clarice Zenor. This park is located east of Tara Way at the east end of Birch Street. A shelter house is available to rent with kitchen accessories. Contact the City Clerk's office for rental information.

The picnic shelter, located in Tara Way park, can be reserved for gatherings. The shelter includes a kitchen and bathrooms.

Veterans Park
Veterans Park

Veterans' Memorial Park is located southeast of the intersection of Cedar and Maple Streets. The FAMILY group (Fathers And Mothers Interested in Lawton's Youth) has erected a gazebo in the park housing a veteran's memorial stone. This memorial was donated by the Lawton Civic Development Corporation.
