Lawton City Council Minutes

April 4, 2002

The Lawton City Council met in special session on Thursday, April 4, 2002, at the Lawton City Clerk’s office. Mayor pro tem Arlan Kolker called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Council members present: Arlan Kolker, Terry Masching, Jeff Nitzschke. Absent: Tony Bengford, Mary Beth Schorg. Also present: Bill Goodwin, City Clerk Pat Washburn. Mayor Shorman arrived later.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss insurance options for the City. Bill Goodwin, representing Luse-Etler-Goodwin, Inc, gave presentation on Iowa Communities Assurance Pool. Goodwin stressed the fact ICAP is not an insurance, but rather an assurance pool. Quote for coverage through ICAP was $10,446 according to Mr. Goodwin.

He also informed council the renewal premium through Employers Mutual Casualty Company will be $13,532 for the upcoming year. After brief discussion, Nitzschke made motion to continue city insurance coverage with EMC. Kolker seconded motion. All voted aye, carried.

Mayor requested EMC to provide a risk assessment of the city. Goodwin will contact EMC to have work done.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:10 pm.
