FEMA Grant
Back

A telephone call from Senator Tom Harkin's office the end of August 2004 brought good news to the Lawton Fire Department once again.   They were notified that they were chosen to receive a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant.  The approved grant totals $42,953.90.  Of this, the Federal share is 90%, or $39,049.  The Lawton Fire Department share is 10% or $3,904.90.

The Lawton Fire Department covers a 72-square mile district.  Services are supplied to the City of Lawton, as well as to the rural areas of Banner and Concord Townships.

Monies from this grant will be used to purchase additional safety gear for our Department and the volunteers.
