Parks
The Veterans' Memorial Park is located southeast of the intersection of Cedar and Maple Streets. The FAMILY group (Fathers And Mothers Interested in Lawton's Youth) has erected a gazebo in this park that houses a veteran's memorial stone. This memorial was donated by the Lawton Civic Development Corporation.
New sod, a sprinkler system, and an ADA accessible water fountain were installed in the park in 2003. Flower beds were planted the summer of 2004 with the help of students from Western Iowa Tech Community College.
Playground equipment is available, along with benches and picnic tables.
A second park in town was established around 1994 on property donated to the city by Arlen and Clarice Zenor. This park is located east of Tara Way at the east end of Birch Street.
A shelter house is available to rent with kitchen accessories. Contact the City Clerk's office for rental information.
Picnic tables are available to use on a first come, first serve basis...unless the shelter has been rented. Restroom facilities are available behind the shelter house.
Playground equipment is available at this park. The FAMILY group has been very active with the development of the new park. Each fall they hold their annual fund-raising picnic here.
