Ambulance
Lawton started a First Response Rescue service in 1973. Volunteers responded to calls with private vehicles and eventually we were able to purchase used rescue vehicles. In 1991 we purchased our first new ambulance and started transporting our patients rather than relying on ambulances from our neighboring communities. A second new ambulance was purchased in 1998 and the current ambulance was purchased in 2005 at a cost of 104,775.

Lawton responds to approximately 90 calls per year at the present time.

Lawton Ambulance is currently a "Provisional Paramedic Service." Our squad consists of 23 members with the following licenses: 3 EMT-PS, 10 EMT-B, 1 EMT-I, 4 FR, 5 Drivers. This is quite rare for such a small community to have a "Provisional Paramedic Service", but certainly offers our residents the best medical care possible short of being in the hospital.

Lawton Ambulance serves 72 square miles which consists of Banner Township, Concord Township, The City of Lawton and the Char-Mac Assisted Care facility. Our boundaries by directions are North to the Plymouth County line, South to Hwy 20 West bound side, East to Moville boundary, and West to Sioux City which includes a portion of the Highway 75 bypass.

The Lawton Ambulance crew is a super, dedicated group of people, and I am proud to be a part of this service!
