Fire and Ambulance Grants
UNITED AIRLINES TRUST FUND - COMMUNITY GRANT
In June of 2013 the Lawton Community Fire Department received word that they were the recipient of a United Airlines Trust Fund - Community Grant in the amount of $2,500.00 from the Siouxland Community Foundation. These funds were used to equip their 2008 Chevrolet Rescue Truck which has been designed for use in rescue and recovery operations. A new front bumper was purchased with a brush guard and a 9,000 lb. electric winch.
MISSOURI RIVER HISTORICAL DISTRICT GRANTS (MRHD)
During the Spring of 2013, MRHD awarded the Lawton Ambulance a $10,000.00 grant for the purchase of a power cot to be used with their ambulance.
At the same time, MRHD also awarded the Lawton Firefighters a grant of $9,926.65 which was used to replace seven pair of fire boots that were deteriorated, seven new NFPA compliant fire helmets and a set of PARATECH stabilization struts that can be used in many rescue operations to ensure rescuer/victim safety on scenes.
FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY and the DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY
In February of 2011 the Lawton Fire Department was notified of a successful grant application under the FY2010 Assistance to Firefighters Grant program in the amount of $22,576.00. Funds from this grant were used to purchase all new fire hose, which included LDH (Large Diameter Hose) that the department uses to move large quantities of water with less hose length, a new Blitz-Fire ground monitor and all new fire nozzles for the department. The new equipment was placed on our main Engine 58. The new hose, ground monitor and nozzles replaced old equipment that dated 15 to 25 years of age.
